Big Blue

So it seems that a lot has been going on in the Little household lately. Its funny how so much and so little can happen at the same time. Confused? Let me explain...

About a week and a half ago Jonathan and I decided to take a small day trip to one of the many ski resorts in the area. I had acquired all those snowboarding skills on our trip to Snowshoe (note the sarcasm), and I didn't want to risk losing them. SO we set out early two Saturday mornings ago for Wintergreen ski resort, which is located about an hour from Lexington. As many of you know, this is literally a dream come true for Jonathan. To be only an hour from a ski resort, I knew it was only a matter of time before he had me waking up at 7am on a Saturday morning so we could make it in time for the first snowboarding lesson of the day. We did get up at 7am on a Saturday, but I didn't take a lesson. Maybe things would have turned out differently if I had . . .

Here we have the only action shot of the day. While its quality is sub-par (it was taken from Jonathan's phone) I thought I would include it anyway to show folks that I did more than fall that day. And I really was having fun! "Was" being the operative word. . .

Ok, you are about to see a string of slightly odd pictures. Yes, we are eating lunch in the back of the 4-Runner. And no, it didn't occur to us that we probably could have taken our lunch inside the resort. You know you have spent too much money on rentals and lift tickets when you feel compelled to eat your homemade lunch out of the trunk of your car.

And then after lunch everything went south . . .yep, that's me below and that thing on my arm, that's a sling. A toe-side turn gone terribly wrong resulted in a distal radius fracture . . .not exactly how I pictured the day going. After leaving the resort, we drove back to Lexington and went straight to the Emergency Room. We got some X-rays taken, had a splint put on, all in all it was good times.

I had this lovely cast put on Monday. I have to wear it for six weeks. So when I say we've had a lot going on, we have!! We've both been out of commission for the past couple of weeks. Right after my little fall, Jonathan came down with the flu. So needless to say there weren't many household chores getting done around our house. You know this was driving me crazy, but I tried not to let it bother me too much.
I have to go tomorrow and get this cast replaced with a shorter, waterproof cast, and I can't wait! I hadn't taken a bath since I was probably six, and I've had to take one everyday since it happened! I am affectionately calling this cast "big blue" for the sake of the blog title. Stay tuned for a new color, look, and angle, hopefully!
