A 5K, a Soccer Game, and a Birthday Party!

This past Saturday, Jonathan participated in the Monkey C Monkey Run 5K, benefiting Camp Smile-A-Mile!  The race actually started in Homewood Park and ended right in front of our house!  Jack and I took advantage of our close proximity and sat on our porch and watched as all of the runners crossed the finish line.  Definitely a fun way to spend the morning!

After the race, we drove up to Huntsville for our nephew, Henry's, 2nd birthday party!

Our niece, Kate, had a soccer game at noon, so it worked out well that we could be there for that too!  The Black Mambas played well, and Kate looked so cute in her little soccer uniform!

It seems like just yesterday we were driving down from Virginia to meet Henry for the first time and now he's two!  I can hardly believe it.  And he just so happens to be the cutest, sweetest little two year old around, I might add.

Laura really outdid herself (as she always does) and planned a precious cowboy themed party.  There were cute little activities for the kids, like panning for gold.  She made horses out of pool noodles and even had a tent set up!  It was the perfect, and the food was delicious too!

I just love watching these two little boys together.  They don't get to see each other as much as I know we would all like for them to, but I know they are going to be big buds and will have so much fun growing up together.

We had such a fun weekend!  Happy 2nd Birthday, Henry!

Similarities?

So, Jonathan is the red-headed child on the right . . .

And here is Jack . . .

They look so much alike to me!  I've heard that we make some of the same facial expressions, but as far as looks go, he definitely looks more like Jonathan than me.  No question.  I think it will be neat to compare some of their milestones (ie. walking and teeth) and see if there are any similarities there.

Happy Thursday and Roll Tide!

Labor Day Lakin' 2013

We had a wonderful time at Mummi and Doc's this past weekend as we celebrated Labor Day and the last weekend of the summer!  I do hate to say goodbye to summer, but I am so ready for fall, cooler weather, fun holidays, and college football!

We always have fun when we visit Mummi and Doc, and this past holiday weekend was no exception!  We left from Birmingham Friday afternoon around 4:30 and arrived in Florence just in time for dinner with Mummi, Doc, and the Huntsville Littles.  The other Homewood Littles arrived a bit later.

With this crew, there is never a dull moment nor lack of entertainment.  I do believe that Jack's head was on a swivel the whole time.  With the families growing, there is always a playmate nearby.  Jack is just getting to the age where he is starting to play and interact with other kids a bit more, so it is so much fun to watch him play and interact with all of the cousins.  If he wasn't playing, he was watching the others, and that alone is more entertainment than he gets at home, so he loved it!

We were so happy to have our friends Lucas and Leah join us for part of the weekend.  We enjoyed a fun-filled Saturday on the lake followed by an exciting afternoon of Crimson Tide football!  We watched as The Tide played in their season opener against Virginia Tech, who they beat 35-10.  Roll Tide!  That night we enjoyed some delicious catfish from Newburn's, a local fav., and then stayed up way past my bedtime, talking and enjoying each other's company.

Sunday morning we all went to church together and then came home for lunch and little more play-time on the lake.  We went to church later that afternoon and then enjoyed another delicious meal at Ricatoni's.

Monday morning was a lazy morning (the best kind of morning, if you ask me).  We ate, played, talked, laughed, went on one last boat ride, and then unfortunately had to pack up to head home.

Weekends with family are the best kinds of weekends in my book, and I look forward to many more with this crew!
